Product Description God of War Collection PS3
Amazon.com Product Description
A must-have for action/adventure fans on the PlayStation 3 platform, the God of War Collection features both PlayStation 2 single player classics, God of War and God of War II. Remastered in high definition and re-released for play on the PS3 this collection allows both longtime fans of the series and those coming to it new to indulge in the addictive action and puzzle-solving fun of taking on the gods ruling the world of ancient Greek mythology. Over-the-top God of War combat. View larger. | Addictive puzzle play Kratos style. View larger. | Huge baddies and boss battles. View larger. | The God of War Saga Now for the PS3 The God of War series, made up of God of War and God of War II, featuring the brutal yet tortured anti-hero Kratos, engrossing storylines based in Greek mythology, over-the-top addictive action and puzzle-solving gameplay and simple controls is often referred to as one of the best, and/or most popular single player action games series ever made for PlayStation 2. The truth in this can be seen in the fact that in an era dominated by more advanced game consoles, fans of the franchise who have held on to their PS2's still revisit these two games from time to time, while gamers who missed their initial releases are tempted to give them a try, even though they have moved on to a PS3. Regardless which side of this you find yourself on the God of War Collection holds something for you. Released in advance of the highly anticipated God of War III, the first game in the series developed for the PS3 platform and rumored to also be the last overall, this collection allows players to properly prepare themselves for the final chapter in the adventures of Kratos, entirely through their PS3. The Games God of War Unleash the power of the gods and embark on a merciless quest as Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior driven to destroy Ares, the God of War. Armed with the lethal double chainblades known as the Blades of Chaos, Kratos must carve through mythology’s darkest creatures — including Medusa, Cyclops, the Hydra and more, while solving intricate puzzles in breathtaking environments. Driven by pure revenge, nothing can stop Kratos from achieving absolution. Over time, Kratos becomes the most vicious warrior in Ancient Greece and bathed in blood to a point where he can't bare it anymore and sets out on a journey to kill Ares. However, the only way to destroy Ares is to find Pandora's Box, which is located in a temple that's perched upon a hill and guarded by traps, puzzles, enemies, etc. The story is told as a flashback of three weeks prior to where the opening movie cutscene starts and then sets the stage for the game. God of War II God of War saw Kratos, a mortal warrior, set upon an epic quest to dethrone a god. But his journey did not end there. In God of War II, Kratos, the once mortal warrior turned ruthless god, sits atop his throne on Olympus, and is a threat far worse than his predecessor Ares had ever been, striking down anyone who crosses his path, or the path of his beloved Sparta. Filled with power and rage, the "Ghost of Sparta" sets out to alter that which no mortal or god has ever changed his fate. Facing mythical characters, all bent on preventing him from reaching his goal, Kratos' journey brings him to the very edge of the Earth. But this is Kratos, and his defiance is filled with such arrogance and contempt that all of the ancient world still trembles at his name: Kratos, The God of War. Key Game Features - God of War and God of War II on one Blu-ray Disc.
- Remastered in high-definition at a resolution of 720p.
- Anti-aliased graphics for 60 frames per second gameplay.
- Full PlayStation Network (PSN) Trophies support for each game.
- Purchase includes a PSN voucher for the God of War III E3 2009 Demo.

If you weren't a fan during PS2 times, do not buy it! September 8, 2010 Ged I had never played God of War on my PS2. These games had good reviews, so I thought that it might be a good idea to play the first 2 before trying out the third. Well, the gameplay is awful! Combat is very easy, but the controls are one of the worst ever! Boss fights are very easy, however you keep dying on cheap "platform" levels. For example, the camera angle doesn't let you see what is in front of you, so you cannot know which direction to go, and you die. You think that you are going straight, camera angle changes and you are not walking straight anymore, you die! You die, you die, you die. You need to press displayed buttons very fast, or you restart. The puzzles are stupid, not entertaining. This is the first PS3 game that I did not finish! I stopped playing, and I never will. A game should be fun, not frustrating with control problems, camera angle problems. A good game may be difficult, but difficult with smart puzzles, difficult boss fights that requires some strategy.
So, if you liked it on PS2, and you want to play it with better graphics, buy it. If not, don't waste your money and your time. Go buy Uncharted 1-2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Prince of Persia, etc. This game is a total disappointment! I am not buying the 3rd one either. Please check the low ratings for God of War 1-2-3. You will see that everybody complains about the same thing.
2 in 1 September 6, 2010 Ker Thao (Saint Paul, MN USA) God of War collection features part 1 & 2 together for the price of one item. God of War is about Kratos on a quest to kill the god of war Aries. God of War 2 is about Kratos being betrayed by Zeus and then Kratos seeks revenge. The story was great, graphics was great, and sound was great. God of War collection is a great game that should not be missed.
PS2 Classics That Hold Up Well! September 5, 2010 Steven Gargolinski (Boston) As a long time fan of the God of War series, I was psyched for this collection of two of my personal favorite games with a nice graphical upgrade. God of War 3 was coming right around the corner, and this collection was the perfect way to get me ready to go for the upcoming PS3 release.
The gameplay of the God of War series is always brutally efficient. You control Kratos, the God of War, on a quest that fluctuates from rage to redemption and revenge. The entire experience is engineered to allow fast and brutal combat sequences, to allow the player to express his rage against countless hordes of twisted monsters. Right from the get-go you'll feel like a total war machine, stringing together combos and taking enemies out left and right. There's a learning curve here for some of the tougher bad guys in the game, but Kratos has plenty of weapons and techniques at his disposal to overcome these challenges.
One of the highlights of the God of War series is always the boss battles. Huge, epic, and brutal - Kratos will have to pull out every trick in the book to take down these monsters. Most boss battles end with a sequence of button presses that you need to execute as they pop up on the screen, while Kratos performs a crazy finishing blow on the boss. These sequences are always completely over the top, and puts a satisfying end onto every boss battle.
In summary, you're getting a ton of content here for a budget price. If you haven't played either of these games yet, and they appeal to you at all, then pick them up ASAP. Please note that these games are NOT for the weak of heart or for kids. The action is over the top and very brutal, with tons of blood and gore. There are also some pretty heavily sexual situations, including nudity.
Pure epic fun September 4, 2010 Miguel G. this is a great game to play! the graphics have dramatically improved since the ps2 version, and it a lot of fun playing. God of War games are a must if you own a ps3.
Great Collection August 30, 2010 A. Jezbera (E.P. Texas) These are two of the best PS2 games I've played. This was my second time playing these games since I had originally played them on the PS2. I was surprised at how much I had forgotten about the game, but for it being two years ago, I remembered more than 2 days ago.
The gameplay is unique than what many games out there currently offer. Some people might consider these games button-smashers, but they're probably the same people saying that about every fighting game out. There is a skill to playing any game well, and these games add a good storyline to it. If you haven't played or even heard of God of War, you just need to catch up on gaming a lil more, and get these games.
