I love it! September 5, 2010 Barbara-ann Simmont It's no longer the same old boring arena fights over and over again! You can now move through different fields, and you can rebuild your characters too! So instead of two rejected outfits you get a ton of them you choose on your own! WOO!
Sold fighting as usual even though focus is a bit off September 1, 2010 T. Gorrell (Indianapolis, IN) Like most fighting games, you know what you are getting when you are purchasing this title. A few new moves and characters here and there, but the core is still Tekken. As a fan of the Tekken franchise, I am OK with that.
What I don't like though are two big things. 1) The "Tekken Force" or Campaign or whatever they are calling it seems to be a major focus as it is the first option in the menu; and it totally sucks. Just button mashing hoping to auto-focus towards to closest guy and move on. Pointless stupid mode. The ONLY reason to play it is to unlock customizable piece for the fighters and get more money to purchase what you don't. 2) The last guy is no fun to fight. I remember back in the day when Heihachi was the boss, and he was a challenge to beat. Nowdays, Tekken has evolved into a solid fighting game with cheating, game-breaking bosses at the end. They aren't "fair" at any point and really take away from the sense of accomplishment in the game as you just have to spam a move that works to beat them.
Regardless, Tekken 6 is still a fun, solid fighting game, despite these two issues. The graphics aren't the best and seem a bit dated now, but overall, especially with the price drop being less than $30, I recommend this game.
Tekken 6 is awsome August 17, 2010 Mat i reaaally have not plaid online yet but the idea of making everything different from the last versions is awesome i love the new way to play for those that can not play it right on the story version of the game you have to be able to control your character sometimes with you joystick and sometimes with the directional button any way is a total different experience + the always known old modes it has finals you just have to unlock the coliseum + the moves are easiest to perform and really fun.
pd it works really gooood loading the game etc etc on technical staff and I didn't install the game on my xbox
Fun Game- Good Transaction August 6, 2010 Nicole Moore Bought this for my nephew for Christmas. The price was the best deal I could find anywhere and was a perfect game for he and I to play together. We have enjoyed the game and I enjoyed receiving it on time for Christmas.
Worst. Tekken. Evar. August 1, 2010 Christopher M. Shatto Ultimately, Tekken 6 is just another Tekken game.
That might seem like a good thing, given the overall quality of most of the past Tekken games, but, really, it's just a way of saying: if you already have the other ones, don't worry about this one.
The same crop of characters with the same crop of moves in the same style of gameplay returns for the same old Tekken. With a few additions. Really, really crappy additions.
If you're already familiar with Tekken, you know the drill. You choose your character and you wallop people in a twitch-style one on one fighting game. You can step into the foreground or the background, charge or step back, counter, etc.
The gameplay is typically deep for a Tekken game. There are a large number of ways in which the characters' moves interact and a large number of characters and styles to choose from, however, this game is probably not for the button-mashers. Like other Tekken games, mastering the game requires an in-depth knowledge of every character so you can not only make the best use of your characters moves, but also anticipate and counter your opponents.
But what's in this game isn't nearly as important as what's not. What are not there are significantly improved graphics, gameplay, or stories. Overall, Tekken 6 does a poor job of building on the mythos, gameplay, or technology of previous Tekkens.
Worse yet, the game has some serious drawbacks and wastes of space. The rightly reviled Scenario Campaign mode is an abomination that requires you to play through a Final Fight style beat-em-up by repeatedly switching between the left analog stick to move and the directional pad to fight. Enemy difficulty in this mode is all over the place, with bosses that have two full-screen-length health bars, mini bosses that require dozens of strikes and common enemies that (with Devil Jin at least - use him as your free unlock at the start of the game) can easily be wiped out en masse with a single kick. Forget the fun mini games of the past Tekken games, Tekken 6 only offers a digital sadist for people who really enjoy hurting themselves.
The last boss, Azazel, is also a ridiculous oversight. Some characters, particularly those that can't effectively juggle opponents, will struggle with continue after continue trying to down him between his unblockable and cheesy attacks while others such as Law can practically stick a broom handle up his rear end and wipe the floor with him.
The online mode isn't much better. It's laggy and slow which can be very frustrating when trying to play a ranked match.
The worst part, however, is the insane number of load screens and their lengths. Unless you actually sit and watch the story videos in campaign mode (which you probably won't because the translations are awful and most of the dialog is complete nonsense) the whole thing is virtually nothing but one long string of load screens between a few short stages. Character select lags while the game loads selection animations, it loads before a fight, it loads after a fight.... it's just one giant load screen sometimes.
Overall, Tekken is a typical Tekken game if you ignore the abominable campaign mode, load times, and the poor-performing online mode, but that's why it's such a lousy Tekken entry. It's still fun to sit down and play against other people, but if you already have other Tekken games to play, there's no reason to really buy this one. Pick it up if you see it on clearance for a few bucks, but, otherwise, just pass this one up.
